The Department of Transportation & Mobility (DTM) is a new department established in July of 2022. In partnership with other agencies and municipal departments, DTM plans, coordinates, designs and implements transportation programs and projects that promote safe, equitable and sustainable mobility options.
The City of Worcester Department of Transportation and Mobility has launched a public survey to solicit feedback regarding a proposal to lower the citywide statutory speed limit from 30 mph to 25 mph and establish 20 mph safety zones at sensitive locations around the city.

Providence Street will be closed Monday June 10, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. as the Department of Transportation and Mobility, along with Vernon Hill Elementary School, will be hosting a Vision Zero/Safe Routes to School Community Outreach Event.

This spring, the Traffic and Parking Committee held hearings in all five City Council districts regarding the adoption of a statutory speed limit of 25 mph and the establishment of safety zones with a 20 mph speed limit.
