On January 7th, 2025, Worcester Police Vice Squad officers were conducting an investigation in the area of Park and Pleasant St at about noon when they observed a vehicle pull into the lot of the Gulf gas station. The male operator appeared to be waiting for someone. A short time later, a black Honda pulled into the lot and parked next to the initial vehicle. The male from the initial vehicle spoke with the operator of the Honda, then entered the Honda.
Officers approached the Honda, and its operator, twenty-seven-year-old James Ward, had three active arrest warrants. Mr. Ward attempted to flee but was taken into custody by officers. Officers located multiple bags of what appeared to be fentanyl. Mr. Ward was arrested for his warrants and Distribution of a Class A Substance, Possession of a Class A Substance with Intent to Distribute, and Resisting Arrest.
