On January 6th, 2025, officers assigned to the Downtown Foot Beat were dispatched to City Hall for a report of vandalism to two art mural pillars in the rear of the building. Officers did a report and began an investigation. As part of the investigation, they observed the incident on camera.
On January 7th, another officer was dispatched to a report of vandalism at 120 Front St. This incident was also captured on camera, and appeared to involve the same individual pictured behind City Hall. The officer sent out a department-wide email with a picture of a suspect.
On January 8th at about 4:15 PM, an officer said that he observed the individual pictured in the email in the area of Union Station. Officers assigned to the Downtown Foot Beat responded and identified thirty-five-year-old Kevin Kobler, who was wearing the same clothes captured in the video footage. Mr. Kobler was placed under arrest for Vandalism.
