On January 10th, 2025, at about 5:15 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of 265 Lake Ave for a report of a pedestrian crash. Upon arrival, officers located a seventy-one-year-old man who had been struck by a car and suffered serious injuries. A nurse was on scene and assisting him medically. The male was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Officers called for the Crash Reconstruction Unit to respond to the scene and investigate.
The preliminary investigation indicated that the pedestrian exited a bus and began to cross the roadway from east to west. A vehicle was traveling northbound on Lake Ave. The operator of the vehicle did not see him and struck him as he attempted to cross the street. The operator of the vehicle remained on scene. The incident is under investigation.
