On June 15th 2024, a Worcester Police officer received information a male in a white Mercedes or a red vehicle was carrying a firearm illegally, and pointing it in the air, in the area of Webster Square Plaza on Main St. At about 11:30 PM, an officer responded to the area and located a white Mercedes parked next to a red vehicle in Webster Square Plaza.
The officer’s attention was drawn to a male, identified as Marcus Asamoah, twenty-one-years-old of Whipple St, who was wearing a satchel and matched the description of the male with the gun. The officer told Mr. Asamoah to show his hands, and grabbed the satchel, which had a hard item in it with the weight and consistency of a handgun. The officer confirmed that there was a loaded handgun in the satchel, and Mr. Asamoah did not have a license to carry firearms.
He was placed under arrest and is charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.
