On July 14th 2023 at about 9 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Hartford Rd for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Officers located the crashed Dodge, and were told that a male with no shirt on had crashed the truck into a tree and was asking people not to call the police. The male walked toward Burncoat St, away from the scene of the crash. Officers were also told that another vehicle had been involved in the crash with the Dodge, but had driven away.
Officers spoke with the owner of the Dodge, who said that it had just been stolen from his driveway on Summerhill Ave. Officers gave a description of the shirtless male over the radio, and a male matching the description was located at the corner of Burncoat and Marland Rd. While officers were investigating, the male, identified as Markis Martinez, twenty-nine-years-old of Cohasset St, suddenly went up to a police cruiser and tried to open the door.
After further investigation, officers developed probable cause for the arrest of Mr. Martinez, who was placed under arrest and is charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of Property Damage, Operating after Suspension, Attempt to Commit a Crime and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Authority.
