On June 27, 2023, members of the Vice Squad were conducting surveillance in the area of Castle Park due to numerous citizen complaints of open air drug dealing and using in the park.
During the surveillance, Vice officers identified one male later identified as Eduar Valle who was meeting with numerous individuals and conducting brief exchanges consistent with street level drug deals.
Vice officers continued to investigate and approached Mr. Valle with another male in the park next to the basketball court. Officers found Mr. Valle to be in possession of a bag containing additional individual baggies of suspected fentanyl. A Vice Lieutenant located a hard black cylindrical object in the front coat pocket of the second male, later identified as Miguel Castro. Inside was a crack pipe with suspected cocaine reside. Directly next to where both males were located with their belongings were numerous empty baggies consistent with used drug packaging.
Mr. Valle of 26 Pemberton St. Worcester was charged with distribution of A Class B Substance (Crack), distribution of A Class B Substance (Crack Cocaine), possession with intent to distribute A Class A Substance (Fentanyl).
Mr. Miguel Castro of 11 Home Street, Worcester, was Illegal Possession of A Class B Substance (Crack Cocaine).
