On June 26th 2023 at about 2:45 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to S Buffum St for a report of a car break that had turned into a fight. Officers arrived and spoke to the victims, who woke up to walk their dog and saw a male inside their vehicle. One of the victims confronted the male, who fled after a brief physical altercation. The victims confirmed that multiple items, including credit cards, had been stolen from the vehicle. Officers issued a BOLO based on the description of the suspect.
Shortly after the BOLO was issued, another officer spotted a male, identified as Michael Lawler, forty-one-years-old of Dorchester, on Mill St. Mr. Lawler matched the description given by the victims, and was detained by the officer. After a brief investigation, officers developed probable cause to charge Mr. Lawler with B&E Vehicle at Night to Commit a Felony. In addition, he had an active arrest warrant for a separate incident. He was placed under arrest and transported to the station for booking.
