On June 28th 2023 at about 5:20 PM, Worcester Police officers assigned to the Neighborhood Response Team were on patrol in the area of Southbridge St when they observed a Black Lexus on Southbridge St. After running the license plate, the officers saw that the vehicle’s owner, twenty-nine-year-old Matthew Labouef of Russell St, had a suspended driver’s license, and the vehicle had no inspection sticker. Officers followed the vehicle on to Major Taylor Boulevard, where they conducted a motor vehicle stop.
Officers asked Mr. Labouef to step out of the vehicle, and they located a handgun under the driver’s seat. Mr. Labouef does not have a license to carry firearms. In addition, officers located several pills for which Mr. Labouef did not have a prescription. He was placed under arrest and is charged with Carrying a Firearm without a License, Improper Storage of a Firearm, Possession of a Class E Substance, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, and other motor vehicle violations.
