On Friday May 31, 2024, at approximately 11:15 pm, officers with the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit observed a vehicle traveling in Green Hill Park, which was closed at the time, with an expired registration sticker. Officers activated their emergency lights and approached the vehicle.
Officers observed the passenger to be breathing heavily and positioning his body in a way to shield his fanny pack. The operator and the passenger were ordered out of the vehicle. A detective recovered a gun inside of the fanny pack. The sixteen-year-old male passenger was arrested.
The gun was determined to be a ghost gun, which had no serial number or identifiable markings. It was loaded with a magazine inserted and ready to fire. The juvenile is charged with Firearm, Possess Large Capacity, Ammo w/o FID Card Firearm, Carry w/o License, Firearm, Carry w/o License Loaded and Removal or mutilation of serial or identification number of firearm. The driver was released with a verbal warning.
