Grove Street - O'Connell Field

Corridor Overview

Parking options are limited for users of O'Connell Field and visitors to the nearby Worcester Firefighter Memorial Park and Institute Park boardwalk. On-street parking is prohibited on this segment of Grove Street currently, and other available on-street parking is located some distance away. To address this situation, travel lanes and bicycle lanes on Grove Street will be adjusted to create two new on-street parking areas. On the west side of the street, on-street parking will be provided adjacent to O'Connell Field. On the east side of the street, on-street parking will be provided adjacent to Rural Cemetery between the main entrance and North Street. This alternating of parking lanes maximizes the number of spaces that can be provided, and preserves line of sight from existing driveways. A new crosswalk will be established near the entrance to Rural Cemetery.

To accommodate the new parking lanes, travel lanes will be re-striped to standard 11-ft widths. Buffers will be added adjacent to the bicycle lanes to better separate bicyclists and motor vehicles.
