WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester announced Friday that Spring Street Sweeping will begin Monday, April 3.
Street sweeping will begin in the section of the City that has trash/recycling collected on Thursday, then progress to the Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Wednesday collection areas. Signs will be posted in neighborhoods in advance of sweeping. Arterial streets are swept 11:30 p.m. - 7:30 a.m., Monday – Friday. Residential streets are swept 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday – Friday.
Parking Bans will be in effect during street sweepings. Vehicles that interfere with street sweeping will be tagged and may be towed. There is a $50 fine for cars that are not removed for the street sweeping.
Street Sweepers cannot pick up brush, branches, or yard waste. Residents are advised to bring these items to one of the City's yard waste drop-off sites. Violators are subject to fines. Residents and business owners can assist with cleanups by sweeping sidewalk sand and debris into the gutter before street sweepers come to the area. It is also greatly appreciated if residents can sweep in front of walkways, vacant lots, and medians.
Residential street sweeping will take approximately 6 to 8 weeks to complete. Area mapping with anticipated upcoming dates for street sweeping can be found on the City’s website.
