WORCESTER, Mass. – The City of Worcester announced Thursday the selection of JM Goldson, an award-winning team of planners and Massachusetts-certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE), to draft a comprehensive five-year Housing Production Plan. This project is made possible through an FY2023 Housing Choice Grant Program award and is part of Worcester's commitment to increasing housing production and lowering costs for residents.
In addition, JM Goldson will also provide advisory support in developing an action plan for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund Board of Trustees.
Under the direction of the City of Worcester Executive Office of Economic Development, JM Goldson, in collaboration with RKG Associates, will lead the effort to produce a Housing Production Plan that encompasses a detailed housing needs and demand assessment. The planning process will identify barriers and propose solutions to facilitate the creation of new housing. This assessment will serve as a foundation for establishing specific goals for housing development and crafting an implementation plan to meet those goals. The Housing Production Plan will also include strategies to leverage city tools and various local, state, and federal resources to meet affordable housing demands.
The Housing Production Plan will provide a roadmap for Worcester's housing future by analyzing housing and demographic data while confirming what is learned with resident and stakeholder interviews and community engagement.
“The selection of JM Goldson marks an important milestone in our ongoing efforts to support housing development in Worcester and promote policies that further housing stability, supply, and subsidy,” said City Manager Eric D. Batista. “We look forward to the insights and recommendations that will emerge from this comprehensive planning process.”
