Worcester's Union Station serves as an inter-modal hub, hosting Amtrak and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority commuter rail service to Boston. The station is undergoing improvements to the platform, track and its accessibility to patrons. The upgrades will improve the station's function, capacity, level of service, safety and make it fully accessible.

Beginning in March 2022, passengers will now use a temporary platform to board trains. Signage will direct riders from the parking garage through the station, leading them to the temporary platform. Riders will also be able to access the temporary platform from the Commuter Rail parking lot.
Any service changes during the project will be posted on the MBTA website for passengers to check before traveling.
