On December 19th 2023 at about 11:10 AM, Worcester Police officers assigned to the Shooting Response Team were on patrol in the area of Front St when an officer observed a Mercedes take a left in front of a “No Left Turn” sign. The officer activated his lights and initiated a motor vehicle stop in the area of 544 Main St.
The officer knew the driver, identified as thirty-two-year-old Kevin Jean of Auburn, and asked for backup over the radio. Mr. Jean was unable to provide a license or registration and began reaching for the area of the glove box. The officer withdrew until backup arrived.
When backup arrived, the officer told Mr. Jean to step out of the vehicle. Mr. Jean did not comply and became argumentative. Mr. Jean eventually did comply and was removed from the car. Officers located an open bottle of vodka and a loaded handgun in the vehicle. Mr. Jean does not have a license to carry firearms.
Mr. Jean was placed under arrest and is charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol.
