On March 13th at about 1:50 PM, Worcester Police officers assigned to the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade detail received information that there was a person with a gun in the area of Downing and Woodland St. Officers spoke with witnesses, who reported that two males punched and kicked a male after demanding money. One of the two males took out what appeared to be a black handgun and pointed it at the victim before running towards Park Ave.
Officers broadcast a description of the two suspects over the radio. Shortly after, officers located two fifteen-year-old males near Park Ave and Downing St who matched the description broadcast over the radio. Officers removed what appeared to be a black handgun from one of the male’s pockets, and placed them both under arrest.
When the firearm was examined more closely, it turned out to be a very realistic replica pellet gun. One of the males was charged with Attempted Armed Robbery and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Shod Foot), and the other was charged with Attempted Armed Robbery and Assault and Battery. They will be arraigned in court.
