On August 29th, 2024, at about 4:12 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Hawley St and Pleasant St for a report of an armed robbery of a cell phone that just occurred. Officers developed information that a silver Ford Fusion was a potential suspect vehicle, and broadcast a BOLO for the vehicle.
Officers checked the area for the vehicle, and eventually located it on Main St. After a brief investigation, officers arrested eighteen-year-old Javan Alvarez of West St and eighteen-year-old Alwin Cordero of Main St. Both were charged with Armed Robbery.
Officers located a loaded handgun in the vehicle. Mr. Alvarez is additionally charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number and Improper Storage of a Firearm.
