On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at approximately 12:30 A.M., Worcester Police officers observed a vehicle speeding on Cambridge Street. Officers discovered the vehicle did not have a valid inspection sticker and stopped the vehicle on Harding Street. A male exited the vehicle from the backseat and started to run. Officers observed him grasping and holding the waistband of his pants as he ran, which is behavior consistent with someone carrying a firearm. A BOLO was issued to other officers in the area to track down that suspect. Officers returned to the vehicle and removed the two males inside. Both denied knowing the man who fled. Both were released after a brief investigation.
A short time later, residents reported seeing a man matching the suspect’s description running through their yards. Officers located the suspect who fled but was quickly found in a rear stairwell on Ashmont Street. Eighteen-year-old William Tchoubah was taken into custody. Officers confirmed Tchoubah had an active warrant for armed assault to murder and various other firearm charges stemming from a shooting/armed robbery at Esther Street.
Officers were concerned that the suspect discarded a firearm in a neighborhood with children. An investigation led officers to a residence on Canton Street. The homeowners allowed officers to search for the weapon. A Glock pistol was found tucked in between some cement and a fence. The gun was processed by the Crime Scene Unit.
Tchoubah is charged with two warrants, possession of a large capacity firearm, firearm carry without license loaded, Firearm Carrying Without a License, Firearm Possession Large Capacity Weapon, feeding device, Possession of Ammunition Without FID Card, Improper Storage of a Large Capacity Firearm, B&E Nighttime, Disorderly Person, Disturbing the Peace and Trespassing.
