On July 31st 2022 at about 1:20 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched for a ShotSpotter notification in the area of Beaver Brook Parkway. Officers near the park at the time heard several loud noises that they believed to be gunshots, and additional callers described a male firing a handgun into the air.
When officers arrived, they observed a male who matched the description given by dispatch sprinting toward Maywood St. Officers stopped the male, identified as Brian Rodriguez, thirty-two-years-old of May St, developed probable cause for his arrest, and took him into custody. Officers discovered evidence that a gun had been fired, but did not locate the firearm. Mr. Rodriguez is charged with Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Disorderly Conduct, and Disturbing the Peace.
