On November 1, 2024, at approximately 12:01 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to a report of a disturbance on Park Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were met by several individuals. A male exited a vehicle and dropped a firearm before he ran from the scene and jumped over a barbed wire fence.
An officer approached the vehicle that the suspect exited and observed a firearm on the ground. The officer also found a Massachusetts ID inside of the vehicle with a photo of the suspect. The other individuals claimed the suspect accused them of stealing a bag from his vehicle, which they denied. They were searched and were free to leave.
Officers caught up with the suspect, identified as twenty-six-year-old Niko Ferrero of Fiskdale, on Mason Street. Officers observed fresh cuts and scrapes on his arms. Ferrero was arrested after an investigation determined that he did not have a license to carry firearms and there was a warrant for his arrest. The Crime Scene Unit recovered the firearm.
Ferrero was charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Ammunition Without an FID Card and the warrant.
