On January 1st 2023 at about 10:19 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of 68 Stafford St for a report of a male who was approaching motorists and aggressively asking for rides. As officers were on the way to the call, they were informed that the male tried to stab a motorist and steal a vehicle.
Officers arrived on scene and spoke with witnesses, who reported that the male approached motorists in the parking lot, produced a knife, and demanded keys from a motorist. They were told that the male ran toward Lakewood St.
Officers checked the area around Lakewood St and located a male matching the description given running through residential backyards, disturbing the residents. The male, identified as Sahfari Williams, nineteen-years-old of South Lenox St, continued running when he saw police. After a brief foot pursuit, officers took Mr. Williams into custody and located a knife in his jacket pocket. He was identified by witnesses and placed under arrest. He is charged with Carjacking, Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing he Peace. He will be arraigned in court.
