On April 8th, 2024, at about 8:50 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Mechanic St for a report of an assault with a dangerous weapon. Upon arrival, officers determined that a female parked her car in a downtown garage when she noticed another female pacing back and forth. The second female, later identified as twenty-eight-year-old Jades Rivera of Berkeley St, is alleged to have approached the first female, taken out a box cutter, and said “Give me the phone.”
The victim took off running, and was chased by the second female. At one point during the chase, the victim was nearly caught and was scratched by fingernails. The victim ran into a public place, where she told people what happened and identified Ms. Rivera as her assailant. Ms. Rivera was detained by officers, who recovered a box cutter from her person. Ms. Rivera was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery and Assault and Battery. She also had an outstanding arrest warrant.
