On October 8th 2023 at about 9:25 PM , Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Young St for a reported gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers saw a large crowd around a nineteen-year-old female shooting victim. She was treated medically and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers investigated and determined that a large party was held, and a fight broke out between several females. Officers determined that a male on scene, identified as Juan Carlos Hernandez Villegas of Danielson Connecticut, took out a handgun and fired it, striking the female victim. He was located on scene and placed under arrest. Officers recovered a loaded handgun, for which Mr. Villegas did not have a Massachusetts license.
Mr. Villegas is charged with Armed Assault to Murder, Assault and Battery by Firearm, Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, and Possession of a Firearm while in the Commission of a Felony.
