On January 11th 2023 at about 2 AM, a Worcester Police officer was on patrol in the area of Park Ave when he noticed an open door to Smoke Vibez at 258 Park Ave. The officer observed a male appear at the door and enter the business. The officer called out with a possible break in progress and asked for back up. Responding units set up a perimeter around the business.
Officers, including a K9, entered the business and began clearing it. When they got to the backroom, they noticed damage to the bathroom ceiling and pipes. The drywall had been damaged and it appeared that someone had entered the adjacent business, El Basha. Officers discovered a shoe, and a backpack with bolt cutters and various items. Officers continued checking the building.
Eventually, officers discovered a male, identified as Epifanio Lanzo, thirty-three-years-old of May St, hiding in the ductwork. Mr. Lanzo was placed under arrest and is charged with two counts of Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime with Intent to Commit a Felony, Larceny from a Building, two counts of Vandalism, and Possession of Burglarious Tools. He will be arraigned in court.
