On July 20th 2024 at about 12:10 AM, a Worcester Police officer was on patrol in the area of 800 Main St. He observed a male conduct a hand to hand transaction with a female. The female was stopped, and what appeared to be crack cocaine was recovered from her.
Officers followed the male, who jumped on an electric scooter and went south on Main St. The man, later identified as twenty-six-year-old Argenis Cordova of Piedmont St, got off the scooter and began to run. Mr. Cordova took off a backpack as he was running and threw it in the area of Piedmont St. He was eventually taken into custody on Piedmont St. The backpack was recovered and contained a loaded handgun, and Mr. Cordova does not have a license to carry firearms.
Mr. Cordova is charged with Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Distribution of a Class B Substance (2nd or subsequent offense), Possession of a Class B Substance with intent to Distribute, two counts of Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession of a Firearm while Committing a Felony, Trespass, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest. In addition, Mr. Cordova had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest.
