On January 24th, 2025, at about 12:50 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Boylston St for an Acura obstructing public travel. Officers were given the license plate of the Acura, which was reported stolen out of Boston. When officers responded, the vehicle was gone. Officers continued to check the area.
At about 1:50 PM, an officer assigned to the Neighborhood Response Team observed the vehicle pull into a gas station on Lincoln St. Officers responded to the scene and detained the operator, forty-two-year-old Matthew McCourt. When they determined that Mr. McCourt had no connection to the vehicle, he was placed under arrest for Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Use of a Motor Vehicle without Authority, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
