On April 24th, 2024, Worcester Police officers assigned to the Neighborhood Response Team were looking for twenty-one-year-old John Slater, who had nine outstanding warrants. Mr. Slater was involved in a recent incident in which he is charged with intentionally ramming a Massachusetts State Police cruiser, and he is known to flee from the police.
At about 6:35 PM, officers located a stolen motor vehicle at the intersection of Shrewsbury St and Imperial Rd and observed Mr. Slater walking up to it. Mr. Slater used a key to open the driver’s side door of the stolen motor vehicle, and Worcester Police officers got out of their cruisers and tried to grab him. Mr. Slater pulled away and began to violently struggle with the officers. Eventually, he was taken into custody.
John Slater is charged with his warrants, Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest.
