On July 8th 2023 at about 4:40 PM, an officer working an off-duty assignment at Polar Park turned his attention to the roadway, where he observed a male on the ground, identified as Ezequiel Nunez, twenty-three-years-old of Ripley St, who had been in a motor scooter crash. As the officer approached, he observed another male trying to take a satchel from the first male. The officer approached and the second male fled.
The officer called for an ambulance and approached Mr. Nunez. Officers observed a firearm next to him. Officers detained Mr. Nunez, who began pulling away and resisting. They placed him in handcuffs and confirmed that did not have a license to carry firearms. He was arrested and is charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. Mr. Nunez was seen by the ambulance and refused medical attention.
