On May 7th, 2024, at about 7:10 PM, officers assigned to the Crime Gun Intelligence Unit were on patrol in the area of Harding St when they observed a vehicle turn on to Ellsworth St without using a turn signal. Officers stopped the vehicle, and spoke with nineteen-year-old Jonathan Colon of Endicott St. Mr. Colon was not able to produce any identification, and ducked down and reached out of the officer’s view.
Officers removed Mr. Colon from the vehicle and checked the area in which he was reaching. Officers located what appeared to be a handgun in the vehicle. At this point, a rear passenger opened the door and began sprinting away from the officers. The passenger, who was a male juvenile, was located in a shed behind a Canton St address. He was placed under arrest. Mr. Colon did not have a license to carry firearms and was also placed under arrest. He is charged with Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced Serial Number, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.
