On February 12th 2022 at about 1:15 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Maywood St for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers received information that a passenger in a white box van had been shooting a firearm into the sky. Officers broadcast the description of the van over the radio and located a van matching the description on Chandler St. An officer pulled over the van on Chandler St and conducted a felony stop.
Officers located two firearms and ammunition in the vehicle. The passenger’s seat occupant, identified as Taj Wood, twenty-three-years-old of Oxford, was discovered with what appeared to be crack cocaine. Mr. Wood did not have a license to carry firearms. The driver, identified as Anthony Sinn, twenty-seven-years-old of Tory Fort Lane, also did not have a license to carry firearms.
After analyzing the two firearms, one of them was a loaded black handgun, and the other was a black pellet gun that resembled a real firearm. Mr. Wood is charged with Possession of a Class B Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm without a License to Carry, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling. Mr. Sinn is charged with Improper Storage of a Firearm, Accessory after the Fact (Possession of Class B with Intent to Distribute) and Resisting Arrest. They will be arraigned in court.
