Press Release: Traffic and parking advisory for Worcester Tercentennial

Worcester motorists are advised of road closures and parking restrictions in downtown Worcester due to the events taking place around the Worcester Tercentennial. Thousands of spectators, runners, and vendors are expected to attend the Worcester Tercentennial 5K Road Race and Walk at 9 a.m., Tercentennial Parade at 11 a.m. and Festival from Noon – 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022.
Motorist should pay special attention to posted signs and variable message boards for road closures and detours. There will be temporary road closures for both the parade and road race downtown on Saturday, June 11 for the duration of each along the routes.
The impacted streets for the Road Race are Mechanic St, Main St., Southbridge St., Myrtle St., McGrath Blvd, Green St., Plymouth St., Summit St., Ash St., Washington St., Madison St., Southbridge St. and School St.
The impacted streets for the Parade are south side of Myrtle St. between Southbridge & McGrath Blvd., Prescott St, Faraday St., Grove St., Salisbury St., and Main St. from the Worcester County Courthouse to the Hanover Theatre for Performing Arts.
The streets around City Hall will be closed for the festival from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. This includes Norwich St (starting at 5 a.m.), Franklin St. (Main to Church), Front St. (Main to Church), Church St. (Front to Franklin), Portland St. (Franklin to Myrtle).
Rain date for the Festival is Sunday June 12. 5K Road Race and Parade are rain or shine.
Parking Restrictions on Saturday, June 11:
No parking on either side of Main St. and State St. from 6 a.m. until the conclusion of the parade (approximately 12:30 p.m.).
No parking on Norwich St., Front St., Franklin St., Church St. and on Portland St. from Franklin St. to Federal St. from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Limited parking on Federal St. from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The city is pleased to offer free parking in municipal lots and garages downtown Worcester for patrons attending any Tercentennial events.

In addition, the WRTA continues its fare-free program, making the events accessible to all. Public transportation is highly encouraged.
The Worcester Police Department is advising drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to take extra care to obey the rules of the road and to be considerate of others traveling on local streets in the areas surrounding the event. Please plan ahead and seek alternate routes as the areas mentioned will be congested.

No road closures or parking restrictions on Friday or Sunday unless festival is postponed to Sunday due to inclement weather.
