The Worcester Department announced intermittent traffic control and anticipated traffic delays for Saturday, August 20th due to the Latin Festival. The Worcester Police Department is advising drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians to take extra care to obey the rules of the road and to be considerate of others traveling on local streets.
The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:
• Front Street: Closed between Main and Commercial 6 AM- 10 PM
• Commercial Street: Closed between Mechanic/Mercantile and Front St 6 AM- 10 PM
• Front Street: Closed between Commercial and Church Approx. 11 AM-10 PM
• Franklin Street: Closed between Main and Salem 3 PM-10 PM
• Portland Street: Closed between Federal and Franklin 3 PM-10 PM
• Salem Street: Closed between Library to Franklin 3 PM-10 PM
• Main St: Chatham to Pleasant: Possible closure, but WRTA should plan as if Main St will be closed 5 PM-10 PM.
Again, due to heavy pedestrian crowds associated with this event, motorists are encouraged to exercise caution when traveling in these areas.
