On February 22, 2023, at approximately 10 PM the Worcester Police Neighborhood Response Team was working in the vicinity of the 800 block of Main Street. NRT officers observed a drug transaction take place between a male later identified as Noel Gonzalez and two other individuals.
After the transaction, a Sergeant stopped one of the individuals who was seen purchasing illegal narcotics. This individual was in possession of crack cocaine and fentanyl. He will be summonsed for possession of Class B and Class A (crack cocaine and fentanyl). At this time, another officer attempted to stopped Mr. Gonzalez. Mr. Gonzalez ignored all commands to stop. A foot pursuit ensued. Mr. Gonzalez ran up a staircase at 361 Cambridge Street and threw a container at the officer which struck him in the chest. The officer continued to follow Mr. Gonzalez to an apartment which later was identified as his residence (361 Cambridge Street, Apt 2). Another male answered the door to the apartment. As the officer proceeded through the apartment, he observed a pile marijuana and packaging material in plain view. The officer learned that Mr. Gonzalez had exited the building. Two other officers searched the surrounding area and located Mr. Gonzalez two houses away hiding inside a closet.
The officer involved in the foot pursuit went back and retrieved the container that Mr. Gonzalez threw at him. He recovered several baggies containing crack cocaine and fentanyl.
NRT officers executed a search warrant for the residence of 361 Cambridge Street and located: more than 100 grams of Class A fentanyl, more than 200 grams of Class B crack cocaine and a large number of pills (believed to be fentanyl pills). In addition, the officers located a handgun.
Mr. Gonzalez was charged with distribution of Class A (fentanyl), distribution of Class B (crack cocaine), possession of Class A with intent to distribute (fentanyl), possession of Class B with intent to distribute (crack cocaine), assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, trafficking in Class B over 200 grams (crack cocaine), trafficking in Fentanyl more than 10 grams, possession of ammo without FID card, and resisting arrest. Mr. Gonzalez also had an outstanding warrant.
