On August 1, 2022 at approximately 5:00 PM a member of the Neighborhood Response Team was conducting off road vehicle enforcement. While traveling on Main Street the officer observed a male on a motorcycle who accelerate and then performed a wheelie. The officer discovered that the male’s registration was revoked and insurance was cancelled. The male was identified as 29-year-old Mario Rivera-Caraballo of Worcester. When the operator pulled over, the officer approached Mr. Rivera-Caraballo and informed him that his registration was revoked and his insurance was cancelled. Mr. Rivera-Caraballo appeared to be very nervous. Mr. Rivera-Caraballo was wearing a fanny back. Due to Mr. Rivera-Caraballo’s nervous behavior the officer asked if he had any weapons on him. At this point, Mr. Rivera-Caraballo took off sprinting. The officer was able to apprehend Mr. Rivera-Caraballo as he attempted to climb a fence on Oread Street. Inside the fanny pack, the officer located a loaded firearm, nine bags of marijuana that were packaged and $4,004.00 cash.
Mario Rivera-Caraballo was charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of class D substance with intent to distribute, disorderly conduct, possession of a large capacity feeding device, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, resisting arrest and trespassing.
