On September 30th 2023 at about 8:07 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of McDonald’s on Mill St for a report of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a security guard, seventy-eight-year-old William Trotta, who was assigned to the plaza at 638 Chandler St.
According to Mr. Trotta, on 9/23/23, a Chevy Silverado had been driving through the plaza in an extremely aggressive and reckless manner. On September 30th, Mr. Trotta saw the same vehicle in the plaza operating in a dangerous manner again. It left the plaza and pulled into the McDonald’s next to the plaza, where it parked. Mr. Trotta pulled his vehicle behind the Chevy in the McDonald’s plaza, and parked it in a manner that made it difficult for the operator of the Chevy to leave.
Mr. Trotta approached the Chevy and tapped on the window. According to Mr. Trotta, the operator intentionally backed into his vehicle, causing a collision. The vehicle struck Mr. Trotta’s car multiple times, before fleeing, and Mr. Trotta fired two shots at the vehicle as it fled.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage that showed the incident. It confirmed their information. They observed Mr. Trotta “park in” the Chevy, and observed the operator of the Chevy intentionally back into Mr. Trotta’s vehicle. They observed Mr. Trotta fire at the vehicle as it fled. He was placed under arrest for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling.
