On Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at approximately 6:40 PM Gang Units officers observed 19-year-old Cullen McNamara walking down Belmont Street holding onto what appeared to be an object in his front sweatshirt pocket. Officers opened their car door to speak with Mr. McNamara about an investigation. As soon as officers excited their vehicle, Mr. McNamara took off sprinting down Eastern Ave. A foot pursuit ensued. Officers yelled for Mr. McNamara to stop. Several residents came out of their homes to see the commotion. Mr. McNamara still had his hands in his front pocket as he fled. Officers followed him through a yard with tall grass. Mr. McNamara fell down a steep hill and officers lost sight of him for a moment. Officers located Mr. McNamara hiding under a bushes and apprehended him. Officers went back to the hill where Mr. McNamara fell and located a loaded firearm.
Mr. McNamara of 7 Pine Street, Clinton was charged with Trespassing, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device and Disorderly Conduct and Disturbing the Peace.
