WORCESTER, Mass. – At approximately 11:30 p.m. on May 28, 2024, the Worcester Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 3 Hancock St. with reports of people trapped in the building.
On arrival, the first arriving company found heavy fire on the first floor with conditions deteriorating. Crews quickly made entry into the first floor and simultaneously began extinguishment efforts and a primary search of the building.
During that search, two residents were found on the first floor, removed from the residence by firefighters, and transported to a local hospital by Worcester EMS.
Despite the valiant efforts of Worcester Firefighters, the Department has confirmed that the two residents succumbed to their injuries. Two firefighters were also transported to a local hospital for evaluation. The fire went to two alarms and is currently under investigation. Four adults and three children were displaced.
