Worcester, MA (October 2, 2015) - In advance of possibly significant rainfall amounts from Hurricane Joaquin, the City of Worcester's Department of Public Works & Parks is drawing down Indian Lake and Coes Pond. These steps are only taken in anticipation of hurricane-level events.
While it is still uncertain as to whether the City will see the full effects of the hurricane, we are taking the opportunity to create additional stormwater storage by performing these drawdowns. These preemptive measures will help mitigate flooding effects. City residents should experience virtually no impact from the drawdowns; this notice is simply informational.
