Worcester, MA (July 23, 2013) - The City of Worcester hosted July 18th a rededication ceremony in honor of the restoration project for the Newton Square Memorial. The monument pays tribute to the citizens who lost their lives in World War II. The granite structure and plaque have been completely restored and done in a manner befitting of our care and commitment for our Veterans, our parks and our community.
Designed in 1947 the Memorial honors those from Worcester who served their country between 1941 and 1946. The Worcester site serves as just one of the many tribute’s to Veterans of World War II. The Memorial is designed with four bronze plaques set in a quarry stone and granite. The Memorial stands in front of where the Newton Square rotary meets Pleasant, Highland, June, Coolidge and Newton Street with approximately 21,000 vehicles passing by every day.
