Cooling Centers Open Wednesday, Water Available

WORCESTER, Mass. – Due to Wednesday’s high heat index, the City of Worcester is activating several cooling centers for residents.

Below is a schedule of hours and locations. Each facility will have supplies of water on hand for distribution.

• Worcester Public Library – Main Branch, 3 Salem Square, Open to 8:30 p.m.
• Worcester Public Library – Francis Perkins Branch, 470 West Boylston St., Open to 5:30 p.m.
• Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence St., Open to 4 p.m.

City officials remind residents that prolonged exposure to high temperatures and humidity impact the body’s natural cooling systems and can lead to elevated body temperature and risk of illness. Residents are advised to limit strenuous physical activity, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors.
