Worcester, MA (August 13, 2015)- The City of Worcester's Union Hill Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative is already helping to make the City's Union Hill neighborhood a safer and more attractive place to live. Local and state officials as well as representatives from the Oak Hill Community Development Corporation, Habitat for Humanity and Worcester Academy will gather on Monday, August 17th to discuss the comprehensive strategy, its progress and goals.
WHAT: Press conference to discuss the revitalization initiatives that are planned, programmed and/or currently underway on Union Hill.
WHEN: 3:30 PM, Monday, August 17th
WHERE: Worcester Academy Alumni House, 51 Providence Street, Worcester.
The ceremony will include a brief walk up the street to view the progress of current projects.
Through the federal Community Development Block Grant Program, the City of Worcester in investing $4 million towards a plan that includes improvements in: public health and safety, housing and code enforcement, and streets and sidewalks. Projects include housing rehabs, new sidewalks, road resurfacing and school health partnerships.
The efforts are the result of cooperation among multiple City of Worcester's multiple departments and divisions, in collaboration with the Oak Hill Community Development Corporation, Habitat for Humanity, Worcester Academy, the US Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) and community residents.
