Worcester, MA (April 9, 2015) - City Manager Edward M. Augustus and Mayor Joseph M. Petty will host an appreciation breakfast for employees of the Worcester Department of Public Works & Parks on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 8:00 AM at the Worcester Senior Center.
Augustus and Petty have invited Worcester City Councilors and members of the Central Massachusetts legislative delegation to serve breakfast to the men and women of the DPW to thank them all for their dedication and hard work this past winter. Worcester received a whopping 119.5 inches of snow this winter, making it the snowiest city in the US. The City had both its coldest and snowiest February on record, a combination that made keeping the streets and sidewalks clear a historic task.
"This was an unprecedented winter, and we are grateful for the men and women who worked tirelessly over the past few months, many times without a day off, to deal full-force with historic amounts of snow and keep the city safe," Augustus said.
The Worcester Credit Union is sponsoring the event.
"It's an honor for Worcester Credit Union to sponsor this much deserved recognition of the tremendous work done by the men and women of the DPW this past winter. While consistently providing the city with outstanding services, their efforts during this record breaking, never-ending winter were simply above and beyond. We are very proud to call so many of these workers our members," said Karen E Duffy, President/CEO of the Worcester Credit Union.
This event is open to the press.
