The City of Worcester will assist members of the public in accessing public records within the requirements of state and federal law.
Residents can now gain access to daily neighborhood level crime incident data in both text format and graphically. Daily incident logs are added to our open data portal Informing Worcester.
Map-based statistics are available through our online partner, CityProtect.com. Residents, organizations and businesses have the ability to access crime data via the internet or from the CityProtect iPhone app. This service also lets local residents sign up for free customizable email updates, so you can monitor crime in your neighborhood.
When you need to file a police report you may do so from your residence, the place of the incident or Police Headquarters. The City of Worcester frequently has a high volume of calls with various levels of severity that need to be handled by the Patrol Division. Because of this and other extenuating circumstances, you must be prepared for a response time that may be greater than you expect. Due to this, if there are no pressing issues where you must remain at the incident, the most comfortable place for you to await the responding officer to complete your report will most likely be at your own home.
Copies of most incident reports can be obtained at no cost through the Public Records Portal. This should only be used to request a copy of an existing police report concerning a past incident. To file a new report, or to request police assistance in Worcester, please call 508-799-8606, or in an emergency dial 9-1-1.
Police ReportsThe Worcester Police Department Bureau of Professional Standards (BOPS) records linked below are being furnished publicly following a request from the Human Rights Commission.
The City regularly releases WPD BOPS investigative reports to the public upon request, however publication on the City's website and Informing Worcester is not standard practice. The Human Rights Commission expressed interest in these 2022 BOPS records. The City Manager, aware of the public interest in transparency and police accountability, and in alignment with the goals of Massachusetts Police Reform Legislation, determined that it is appropriate to publish these records to facilitate public access.
These reports were reviewed prior to disclosure, and any non-public material, including material the City is prohibited by law from disclosing, have been redacted.
