For Immediate Release: 4/16/2023 11:29 am
On April 14th 2023 at about 6 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to an address in the June St area for a report of a male with a warrant for his arrest who was behaving erratically and making threats. The male refused to come out of the residence, and the Crisis Negotiation Team was called to the scene.
Negotiators made contact with the male via phone calls and text messages. The male, who was alone in the residence, was threatening to stab officers and continued to behave erratically. He said that he was “armed and ready.” At one point, he threw an item out of his window in the direction of the officers on scene. Officers had sporadic contact with the male throughout the night, but he still refused to exit the residence.
Several hours passed and negotiations continued. At 6:20 AM, over twelve hours after officers initially arrived, the male was taken into custody after he exited his bedroom.
