UPDATE: After an investigation, Worcester Police Detectives developed probable cause for the arrest of thirty-one-year-old James Freeman on charges related to the ShotSpotter activation that occurred on Main St on February 2nd. On February 8th 2023 at about 6 PM, officers were on patrol in the area of Lincoln St when they spotted Mr. Freeman driving an Acura. Officers pulled over the vehicle on Ashton St.
Mr. Freeman was taken into custody and placed under arrest. Officers located a handgun in the vehicle with a defaced serial number. Mr. Freeman does not have a license to carry firearms. He is charged with Armed Assault to Murder, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm), Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, two counts of Unlawful Carrying a Firearm (Third or Subsequent Offense), and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling. He will be arraigned in court.
