UPDATE: Arrest Made in Connection with Shannon St Fatal Shooting

NEW UPDATE: 

On July 29th, 2024, an additional individual, twenty-two-year-old Patrick Mathieu of Paine St, was placed under arrest for warrants in connection with the fatal Shannon St shooting.  Mr. Mathieu is charged with Armed Assault to Murder, Assault and Battery with a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Use of a Firearm while Committing a Felony, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Armed Assault to Rob.  

PREVIOUS UPDATE:

After a lengthy investigation, two individuals were placed under arrest in connection with the fatal Shannon St shooting that occurred on February 12th. On the evening of February 23rd 2024, Worcester Police officers and the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Squad located twenty-one-year-old Kidam Oquendo of Wawecus Rd and eighteen-year-old Alexis Medeiros of Chandler St in Gardner, Massachusetts. They were both placed under arrest.

Mr. Oquendo is charged with Armed Assault to Murder, Attempted Assault and Battery by Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with no License to Carry, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, and Possession of a Firearm during a Felony. Ms. Medeiros is charged with Accessory After the Fact and Obstruction of Justice.

ORIGINAL:

On February 12th 2024 at about 3:16 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of Shannon St for a ShotSpotter activation. Officers arrived on scene and found evidence that shots had been fired but did not locate a victim.

Officers began to check local hospitals for potential gunshot victims and located a seventeen-year-old victim. He was pronounced deceased.
