On October 14th 2023 at about 6:55 AM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to Price Chopper on Park Ave for a report of two males brandishing a firearm. The call involved a newer model Kia SUV that was operating erratically. After two individuals in the parking lot got into a verbal altercation with the driver of the KIA, it is reported that the driver brandished a handgun and threatened the witnesses. Shortly after this occurred, officers were dispatched to Roxbury St for a report of a stolen Kia SUV. The vehicle was recovered later in the day. Officers took a report and detectives began the investigation.
On October 20th 2023, Worcester Police detectives had a search warrant for a South Harlem St address in connection with this incident, and an arrest warrant for a resident. Officers entered the address and located a sixteen-year-old male, who is charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle and a warrant for two counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Officers located a Taser in the residence, and nineteen-year-old Pharrel Smith is charged with Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card.
