On February 2nd 2022 at about 11:24 AM, Worcester Police officers investigated a ShotSpotter activation on Main St. After a preliminary investigation, officers determined that shots had been fired. No victim was located. Detectives responded to the scene and began the follow-up investigation. As a result of the follow-up investigation, Worcester Police detectives sent out an email for officers to be on the lookout for a particular white Toyota Camry.
At about 9:40 PM, a Worcester Police officer was on patrol in the area of Main St when he observed the Toyota driving on Main St. The officer pulled behind the Toyota and activated his lights and siren at the intersection of Main and Hammond St. The Toyota’s operator did not stop, and the officer pursued the vehicle until it turned on to Glenwood St, and two individuals jumped out of the vehicle and ran away.
The officer got out of his cruiser to look for the two occupants who fled but was not able to locate them. The Toyota was spotted by another officer on Southbridge St, where it eventually pulled over. There was only one occupant of the vehicle, Chance Brown, twenty-one-year-old of Prentice St. Mr. Brown was removed from the vehicle and officers located a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number on the passenger’s side. A “Glock switch,” a small device which attaches to the handgun and converts it a machine pistol capable of automatic fire, was attached to the firearm.
