On July 2, 2023 Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of 64 Water Street for a person with a gun. During the investigation, officers learned that a verbal argument transpired between a male later identified as Richard Toro and a group of three individuals. During the argument, Mr. Toro exited his vehicle and pulled out a firearm. He pointed the gun at one of the males in the group of three. Mr. Toro then proceeded to strike the man in the face with a closed fist. Bystanders broke up the fight before police arrived. Mr. Toro fled in his vehicle.
A short time later, officers stopped Mr. Toro in his vehicle on Mulberry Street. Officers located the firearm in his vehicle.
Richard Toro, 21 of 20 Main Street, Leominster was charged with Assault Dangerous Weapon (to wit Firearm) X3, Improper Storage of a Firearm, and Assault and Battery.
