On Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at approximately 4:50 PM Worcester police were dispatched to 51 Gold Star Blvd (Santander Bank) for a report of an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with bank employees to gather information. Officers discovered that the suspect threatened the bank teller and demanded cash. The suspect had an unknown object in his hand and stated that he had a bomb. Officers were given a detailed description of the suspect and were told he fled on foot.
Officers searched the area and located the suspect in the vicinity of the CVS on West Boylston Street. During the investigation, officers found the object that the suspect was holding in the bank which turned out to be a fake bomb.
Manuel Calderin Sanchez, 60, 0f 150 Beacon Street, Worcester was charged with Armed Robbery while Masked, Possession of a Hoax Device, and Threat of a Bomb.
